Trip to Seoul Seoul Mart!

I have been looking for a korean grocery to buy Chunjang (Black Bean Paste) and Gochunjang (Hot Pepper Paste). I have a list of locations where I can buy them, but it was all a failure, either its already closed, the item is not available or I am too lazy to go because it is too far. But When I was out with my Brother, I told him I always wanted to go to "Seoul Seoul Mart" in Alabang, Muntinlupa City, and I was so happy that they sell everything I am looking for! YAY!

Chunjang (Black Bean Paste) and Gochunjang (Hot Pepper Paste)

I can't wait to cook Jjangmyun and to use the Gochunjang for cooking!
wait for my jjangmyun reciepe!! :)

buchimgae (Korean Vegetable Pancake)

Buchimgae or Jijimi (Korean Vegetable Pancake)

I first ate buchimgae or Jijimi at a Korean Restaurant near UST, which is Santorini.. it is delicious but others may not appreciate it because it is made out of vegetables. I always enjoyed eating korean dishes because of the different textures and flavors that you can taste when eating it.

Whenever I like to cook something, I always check recipes online and then I look for ingredients that are available at our refrigerator. My mom is the one who buys ingredients, I just happen to combine them to create something new. Its my job to do that. I searched for recipes for Korean Vegetable Pancake and luckily I saw two.. I combined the two recipe and turn it into one constructed meal. It worked out and it is a success.

Can I consider it my own now because I experimented on what will work and what will not? Its a problem here in the Philippines because of limited resources, you really should need to find korean specialty shops and grocery, but with the recipe I combine, it is easier to find ingredients in this recipe.

Ingredients:
1 cup flour
1 egg
1 cup water
Salt
2 cups thinly sliced cabbage
1/4 cup thinly sliced green onions
1/4 cup thinly sliced carrots
Olive Oil

  • Combine flour, egg,  water, salt into a bowl, until it becomes a batter
  • Add Cabbage, Green Onions, and Carrots
  • Mix Well until vegetables are covered with batter.

Batter with Vegetables
  • Heat a Nonstick Pan and pour olive oil for pan frying
  • Pour batter mixture into the Pan
  • Cook 4 minutes each side until it is golden brown

Frying the Batter
  • After it is cooked, cut it into quarters before serve it
  • Serve it with sauce (soy sauce, sugar, vinegar) and kimchi

Eat and Enjoy

Dak Bulgogi Recipe ( from AllRecipes.com)

  • For the yakisoba, you just need to cook 2 packs of Nissin Yakisoba Spicy Chicken Teryaki

Nissin Yakisoba (from KainanKorner.blogspot.com)

  • Cook the Dak Bulgogi in a saucepan
  • Cook the Noodles
  • When the Dak Bulgogi is cooked, place the cooked noodles into the pan where the dak bulgogi is, then combine the sauce and add 1/8 cup water (you can use the one that was used to cook the noodles).. let is simmer for a while then place in a serving plate
  • serve with kimchi as side dish

Albert's Batchoy

12:00 AM and its really hard to find something good to eat at home, and I am too lazy to cook. My brother decided to bring me to a place where they usually eat during midnight and early morning

Albert's Batchoy

The first time I ate a batchoy was in Malolos, Bulacan during my dad's highschool reunion... I was shocked at first because I know La Paz Batchoy only in cup noodles, and it was my first time tasting a real batchoy that is homemade... I was shocked on how delicious it was, and I never tasted anything like it before.. I am craving for that taste soooo much..

Albert's Kainan

When my brother invited me to eat batchoy.. it was okay, but not as good as the first one I had before.. if I would rate Albert's batchoy... it tastes good, I like the chili because its real chili and its really hot, but there is no chicharon..  i'll give it 2 1/2 stars out of 5...
